Pretty much what the subject says - how much is a nice, complete limited slip 8 inch center chunk worth? Thanks. I am in the market for one, and have an idea, but it's always nice to have input.

    locker

I got mine off ebay a complete "chunck" with 3.80 gears and a trachtech gearless locker ready to drop in for $630 shipped. I thought that was a pretty good deal pricing the parts through summit it would have been at least $700

I saw a powertrax setup for 8 & 9" rears in Jegs for $435, but I'm cornfused... They are listed in a section titled 'Powertrax no-slip traction system', but some are listed as open, some as trac-loc. So is it or isn't it a posi?

Corbin, I built mine with all new parts from Summitt. Used PowerTrac Locker, new gears, bearing etc... Total was less than $500 and I KNOW all the parts are new. Scotty

when the powertrax locker is over $400
and the cheapest set of gears is $164.50
and thats with out bearings or seals!!

Maverick Matt, What that means is that a factory "open" had a different spider gear case than a factory "trac- loc" ,so when ordering the power trax ...they need to know whicch case you are working with in order to send you the correct unit to fit in it.

MadMav, read my post before saying BS! I said I built a LOCKER, part #pwt1810LR, not the differential you likely looked at for $429.00 I looked for my receits but they are in the garage. Ring/Pinion $165.00, bearing instal kit $89.00 (includes shims, gaskets, bearings etc) and the powertrax locker (lockright) was around $249.00 or so. Friend owed me a favor and did the install cheap. It adds up.

This is a locking unit coml;ete with clicks around the corners! Why would I BS fellow Maverick owners? Scotty P

I was told you can make one real cheap with a welder and the knowhow. I don't have either one of those. I bought a 8inch 2 weeks ago with 4:62 mini spool for $150 on ebay.

Thanks again Cometgt1974 man thats long ride to your house.

    Scotty,
sorry I blew up:( I've never seen the locker you described in summits catalog, but I see its in there online cat for $299 I'f I would have seen it I would have done mine the same way. Although the one I have has been very good to me. It gets alot of abuse and performs well, also quiet around corners!!
