New Maverick/Comet Bodies,,,,?

Who would be interested in a new Maverick or Comet Body,, Taking into the fact that with just a few more parts at the end of that 92 part drive we are on,, Its actually possible,,, We are currently making from the Torque boxes forward,,, and with the rear frame rails soon to be on our second batch of parts,,, and the full length rocker pannels along with quarter pannels and full floor pans,,, Guess what,, We need the roof and the fire wall and some inside braces and brackets and we have a full shell,, ,, No kidding,,, We are going to keep an eye on this and when all the parts that are promissed are on the market,,, I plan on going to the shelf and grabbing all the parts and giving it a try,, Yes Building the entire car,,, Complete Chassis,, If that was to happen,, How many on this Forum would be interested in a full body,,, finished in a baked on Epoxy coat,, that you could prime and paint and add the suspension and drive train and have a perfect rust free new car,,,? Any One ,,?

Sounds intresting but I think it would cost some $$.

 

That would be cool! Especially if the bodies where ready for bigger tires or you can offer a mini tub and suspension kit.

 

Cost would be the biggest factor......but the guy who wants a fresh start without fighting rust would be all over it. If you keep the price down compared to the dynacorn mustang body it could turn out to be a good deal. The farther down the road would be better since mavericks seem to be in the abundance as of this moment and can be had for a fair price in most cases. Also figure in the fact you are producing parts that will save many cars that would not have been a candidate for a rebuild. Alot of people get into mavericks as they are relatively cheap compared to other ford vintage muscle cars ,are different, and stand out from the norm. if you make them the norm people may lose interest and move on to pintos....

 

I think it would be a great option, especially for us northerners who's cars suffer from rust!

 

If you do it joe(from our conversation the other day)I dont doubt that you will eventually.You may want to offer them in bare steel since the addition of seam sealer at the panel joints needs to be done before hand(dynacorns bodies require much metal bumping/fitting and finishing before they can be painted) along with other things.Dont forget that some people will want to do a full seam welding treatment to their new toy as well.Considering all this I cant help but think you would end up at or near what dynacorn is asking for their new body shells.And to top it all off,I know you would only release a shell that is darn near perfect and ready to go(dynacorns are nice but not perfect).I would love to have one and I am sure many others would jump on the chance as well but cost is giong to be key to its success.Perhaps if you were to do complete builds to customer specs with new shells.Chip foose would have to be looking over his shoulder every time he sees a Maverick or Comet.AHH I can see Chips nightmares nowThat would indeed be a sight to see.

 

I talked to Joe just last night for almost three hours discussing particular topics such as thing. and i agree with Lance, for someone wanting a fresh start with a mav i think it would be a great idea but the first thing that popped in my mind (like the rest of you) was the price to do something like that. new reproduction '67 mustang bodies and '69 camaro bodies run $15k and no maverick body is worth that IMO. so out of curiousity i asked 'how much?', and if im not badly mistaken that he is trying to get a complete maverick 'shell' on the market for around $5k-$6k. to me, i really dont think that is bad at all for a complete rust free platform to build one's car from. ive seen bills from body shops for more than that just for rust repair. and with Joe's attention to detail and his dedication to these parts and what he's doing for the market and community, i think that he could deliver an 'A+' product. Joe himself can tell you all more about it but i thought i would throw my two pennies out there for what they're worth

But seriously. You got the right idea. Someone like me could never afford it but it would be a great start. Honestly I dont know hnow you could even ship a body shell :16suspect. Obviously it would be truck shipping but that would definetly be a crazy shipment.

Take in to consideration revising the shock towers. Maybe using somthing like 67 up mustang parts?

 

We are making the New apron assemblies for the Mav/Comet,, they are built better,, we are making a few changes to the unit for strength,, So if we do build an entire Body,,, it will be made with improvements that all of us,, come up with,,, take every ones Idea's from here,,, and get an Idea, of the changes,,, put it to a vote on the Forum,,, and then make one,,,,, Make some sweet improvements,,, and keep the car almost stock to the eye,,,:Handshake

 

Speaking of front suspension. Improved shock towers would be nice, but how about a no shock tower option...ie mustang ll front suspension. That would leave plenty of room for us guys who would prefer to run some type of mod motor or big block.

 

we could always leave that as an ordering option,,:Handshake Stock front frame or set up for Mustang 2,,,

 

Besides the cost, how do you plan on registering the cars as new vehicles with it's own vin#. Perhaps rebody existing ones?
