Since I have joined this website I notice more and more that all your peeps cars have Maverick on the fender or on the grille or at least something to identify it as a maverick, and this is really starting to drive me crazy........ My 76 Mav has no emblems, nothing on the grill, hell there is only 2 places that you could tell is was a Maverick..... my gas cap which had the symbol (damn metal let go, so now the replacement is blank) and the word Maverick just above the glove box..... was this normal for this year of car? I know the car has never been in an accident (its been in the family since 77, my great grandfather was the original owner) and there are no holes in the fenders where there should be emblems and the grill is as plain as can be. I have no problem with people asking me what kinda car it is, I just want to be proud to proclaim its a Maverick Was Ford being cheap? Jason
My car has nothing on it either, just the one on the dash and the cap like yours. I thing the previous owner took them off, but i dont know. O, and my new Maverick valvecovers
Like TL I don't like all the Mav emblems all over it. I took everything off before I got mine painted. The only identification is the gas cap and the round grill medallion. -Corbin
That's my plan as well. The emblems everywhere just take away from the class of the car in my opinion. Plus it keeps people guessing. Not too many people have seen restored mavs running 275's in the back, pumping out 400 hp. Evidently some people think they're Camaros, other people don't know what the hell they are . I'm looking forward to those curious glances and puzzled expressions when they see my mav rolling up.
were these cars built this way with no emblems on it? Corbin I think your car looks sweet with the emblem in the center of the grill..... is that factory or is it your own personal addition? I also remember seeing another maverick on here with the work maverick on the grill that looked really cool (I believe it was squeal1's car)
My 76 is the same way maverick on the dash no where else car was bought new by an aunt in 76 that is the way it came.
I was referriing to the exterior; I will keep the Maverick emblem on the passenger-side dash. My Gas-cap has the short horns on it but does not say "Maverick" on it. I removed the Grill emblem years ago. Later model Mavericks (big-bumper) simply said "Ford" on them and not 'Maverick". I like the idea of some people wondering what kind of car it is, as well as the fact that it gives a cleaner/smoother appearance. Having no emblems is a typical hot-rod/custom car practice. One of my pet peeves for any car is having the dealer stickers/emblems on them. As if everyone needs to know where your car was purchased, and as if the dealers deserve free advertising....
Mavaholic; did you ever get time to look for the early grill we discussed at the mini-meet? Just askin' Earl
I removed all of my Maverick emblems, but I do still have the one on the dash. I went with the Cobra theme.
I guess I need to find a decent 70-72 grill then, I think atleast that way people are still wondering bout the short horns but I just don't understand why ford wouldn't "advertise" the car more. I mean if your in the car your already know what kind of car it is, I hope (referring to the Maverick on the dash) BTW dealer stickers definitley need to be removed but you have to admit any dealer sticker that last 25 plus years is a pretty high quality dealer sticker..... LOL
