I would definitely keep this car untouched-looking, but if it has bias ply tires still on it, they are bound to be old. I would replace them for safety's sake. Blowing out an old tire would destroy a lot of that originality.

You could go with some tires that look period-correct. Coker tire probably has something. I'd keep to a medium-width white wall like it has. Maybe look for a 70's style tread pattern.

    Maybe something like this ...

you should also think about having the paint buffed out and have the car clear coated to protect the finish.30+ year paint chips easly around the wheel wells and door edges from pebbles and stuff on the road. protect it now so you have it for later!

without Comet now just keeping in touch
Change those tires! I was driving mine which had 10 year old rubber on it, it had been in a garage for 10 years, got it so I could drive to to work and not breakdown.

got a wierd noise like something had hit the underside of the car.. thought carcass, road debris what ever, got out looked around saw nothing so got back in( didn't look at the tires) Starting driving and there was a bad twitch in the steering, and vibration, what the heck??? Drove another 6 miles to work get out look a the tires.. big chunks of rubber the size of the contact patch had litterally separated and flew off the tire. was driving on steel belts! Immediately drove to a walmart and put 2 new tires to replace the worst 2 tires then got another 2 the next day. Hate to think if I had been going that fast ( interstate) and had 1 or 2 tirers blow.... It's just not worth it to not get the new ones.

Thanks Guys!.. Plan on getting new tires soon... We kept the tires (Look almost new) from the Maverick that we had to junk due to rust. So we will probably put them on until we can get the correct white wall tires.
