okay fella's i am tryin to decide whether to go v8 or not. my 250 needs to b gone thru. so its not just a fix and drive. therefor i have a question 4 the mavrick guru's.. should i go ahead and look 4 a 302 for my mav, or just rebuild the 6. from all ive read the 250 doesnt get that good of gas milage to justify not goin 302. i mean 20 mpg is attainable with a 302 if drivin right. and in the end u still got the umph if u decide u need it. comon and give me some thoughts. am really wantin to get started on this.
    thanx.. jeff

To me.. that's the problem with this stuff. If I'm going to spend 2k for a head, I'm sorry, it's going to be for a v8 set. I don't know how these are doing, sale wise, but the price makes me cringe. Wouldn't do it.

I contemplated this idea when I was putting my car together and it was cheaper to go the v8 route.. and still is. Even a shortblock rebuild is higher on the inline 6. It's all what you want though and how you plan to use or drive the car.

Really it's more of a decision on how you want to spend your money. A built six cylinder would be very unique, as opposed to the vast sea of 302's out there, in many makes and models. No criticism, just an observation.

On the other hand, my wish is to build up a Mav with a hi-po'd 4 cylinder. That would be trick.

my car has a 250, but it wont be there for long

if it was strictly a daily driver i'd probably keep a 6 but not if i wanted any power. and i'd never throw alot of money at a 6 either

I think you'll be happier with the 302.:)
