Hi Mav, your inductive timing light should work fine......that's all I use.

    Thanks

when i tried it it didnt want to flash, it works well with my mav and f250 both with electronic ignition, but when i tried it with on my uncles falcon with a 200ci with stock points it didnt work, i though it had something to do with the points.

My inductive timing lights both work on my points type ignitions.
It should work fine. Some are more sensitive to direction (polarity) that they are put on the wire but it should work.

I asked the same question a few months ago, what I got was 6 degrees before top dead center, but many run it at 10

I have a number scale on my harmonic balancer. It goes by tens. Is this scale in degrees?

Yes those are crank shaft degrees.Find the "TC" on your damper and set your timing to the 10 to the right (looking at it from the front of the car)of the TC(top center) mark. The 302s' like to run at 10 deg TDC.Factory setting is 6deg before TDC.
