What type of specs does the 84 Windsor motor have?
    1) Is it a
Solid flat tappet (aka mechanical flat tappet), [FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Hydraulic roller (aka, roller cam)?
    2) What is their compression ratio?

    Hydraulic flat tappet

compression should be around 8.5-8.9 to 1

What year did these motors become "rollers"?

I thought that the 86 HO 5.8 motor from a Bronco was a roller motor?

Only rollers in a 351 were F5 (or was it F4?) blocks.

The only places you find them are in:
    1st gen Lightnings
    95-97 HD Trucks/Vans

    Edit:
    I changed the decade prefix.
    I originally used the "E" for 1980s.

There was never an "HO" 5.8... Unless you count the 95 Lightning engine.
It was more GT 40 than HO.

    Eddie:
HO engines got a roller cam well before they got EFI.

    Edit:
Yeah, I don't recall if roller cam was in 94 also.
Wasn't the Lightning in 93 also.
I seem to remember the first year NOT being roller.

However you look at it, the only thing you need to know is:
The very last casting, ever, of the 351w block, is the only 351w block to get a roller cam.

What kind of headers do i use?, especially a set the doesn't involve cutting the shock towers. (Are Hooker 6208 recommended?)

94 F4TE blocks are roller blocks. However, I parted a E350 van and a F250 pickup that had the F4 roller block but had flat tappet cams. So, other than lightnings, I'm not sure what actually had the the roller cam.

I only know what I read on the boards when it comes to 351w headers... so take it with a grain of salt, or a search... Whichever you like.

The Hookers are made for the 65-66 Mustang.
They don't fit the Maverick/Comet out of the box.
If you aren't comfortable cutting, welding, and grinding parts, this header is not for you. It was not made to fit our cars... It was just close enough for some folks to try.

The Crites Restoration headers seem to be a much better fit.
They are especially made for our cars, and double engineered to fit both 302 and 351w...
I have seen posts about these headers going on to both engines, and the purchasers all had only good comments.

There are 2 other swap headers, Tubular and Hedman...
They are both very small tube. Too small for ANY 351 IMO.

    Good point.
Ford used 5.0 roller blocks for a long time before trucks actually got the roller cam to go with it.
I have a 97 F250 engine on my stand right now.
Been there for months, but I just realized, reading your post, that I have no idea which cam is in it! :)

    I'll check tomorrow.

    Doesn't matter much.
The important thing is the block.
You got the roller block, your golden.
