Imagine, borrowing parts from another car to make your car whole... Who woulda thought? So, how much of the front end do you have to swap to make a Comet into a mav? What do pics of the rear look like? Comet lights or mav? Small bumper? (edit--dave beat me on the taillights) What about interior badges?
A quick way to tell whether the body is a comet or a maverick is by the rear panel. The maverick has a single thin turn/brake light housing and the comet has a double light housing. The rear panel is welded in and most likely will not be swapped (like the front could of easlily been). You could browse the gallery pics to see what I mean.
He says the car needs a brake line. and the carb has a problem , or "bad gas" Translation tow it home at min, title issues definately I just emailed him to see if he'd part it out, If he says he would I may offer him $200, for the whole car, the fenders a quarters look ok in a pict but of course that may be a completely different story If I can bring up enough questions on the titleing he may go for it. I don't know how much it would cost to have to brought to my house some 60 miles away.
Oh I know the difference on the tailight housings, My money is that this is a 70-72 Maverick with some wierd titling, and a newer interior (comet) swapped in. I sent him an email for more info but he hsa not responded
Uhaul with a two dolly, under $50. Full trailer about $100, but you would need to have some help getting it on a full trailer if it doesn't run. You may be able to get a dolly under it pretty easy.
Make friends with someone with a truck. I would guess you could rent a truck from a car rental place. Uhaul wants it to be Ford Explorer sized or larger, and won't accept a Jeep Grand Cherokee or smaller. You might be able to use one of their "in town" truck deals, but I think if you rent a truck and trailer you will be doubling the price of the car....
Hmmm... check out threads... http://www.uhaul.com/guide/index.aspx?equipment=truck-pickup http://www.uhaul.com/guide/index.aspx?equipment=towing-towdolly
HMMMM wow this deal may be sweet he just replied he won't part it out buit will sell for $500 and it IS a steel grabber hood!! I'm checking into driving up there to see it, and seeing if I can get funds together and a way to haul it! One of my Loan coordinators, races and I can't belive he woudln't have a trailer....
