There is another sensor that should be located in the rear of the car, it shuts the fuel pump off in case you get rear ended. That website pretty much has everything you need to know, you just have to spend some time there.

if i just take the motor the way it is when i pull it from the donor car and rebuild it back the way it was drop it in and put the o2 sensors and that one in the rear and it would be all good. what kind of a throttle cable will i need and i wanna put a different cam in so whats the biggest ford racing cam that would fit without causing any head trouble and would it effect the ecu?

im not sure on the cam. I got the throttle cable at the junk yard out of a thunderbird with a 5.0 works fine. If you use an aod trans you need to get a different trans mount some one on here makes them not sure who. I modifed my double hump mount myself.................

Well i read on that site that a bigger cam wont help much without heads and intake upgrade. is there any difference in a explorer 302 or a mustang of the same year cause the ex has the gt-40 p heads

It seems like you are missing the point...
Think of an EFI engine/tranny/ECM/sensors all as one electrical accessory!

If everything is there, all you need from your car is a hot wire and a ground to get it to run. Just like any other accessory, like a stereo, alarm, fog lights, etc...

Yes, that is a little oversimplified for the scope of the work. It will not be as simple as installing driving lights or stereo, but if every part of the "accessory" is there, you just install it.

So, you need to learn your accessory to make sure you get it all and in the proper order. You need to study your car as packaging for the new 'accessory'. Think of the car as a place to put the 'accessory'...

Yes, oversimplified, but I am trying to counteract your way overcomplex take on the situation!;)

    Good luck

Hey JD71,,, I have a complete Speed density EFI setup with a custom built harness minus the fuel pump for sale if your interested. I built the harness from scratch, hard work is mostly done for it,

I have the distributor, the upper and lower intake manifolds, throttle body and all the sensors that you need to so this swap. I left out all relays, did not feel I needed em, so its simple, hook up the harness, test the circuits and install your own custom in line pump with a return line and your set. The harness worked fine, but lost interest in the project due to what I had to do to the car to make it all work out,,,,, mainly the shock tower braces,,, Hope this helps.

No offense, JD, but judging from my own experience, it doesn't sound like you have the background to do the job in a short amount of time nor do the job inexpensively (not that money is, or is not a concern of yours).

I admittedly bit off more than I could chew when I chose to go that route. If I had it to do over - I'd go with carb and would have had my car on the track MUCH quicker and with MUCH less headache and frustration.

But, to each their own. Good luck on whichever way you decide to go.

Well after talkin to my cousin about it i decided to stick with the carb cause the mav is my only car and i'll have to find a way to work. i'm gonna start a new thread about what parts that i would need for the 302 swap and what i can use off the other car
