Johnnyholeshot, nice looking ride! What part of the country are you from? What all have you done to your car? Looks great!
Well my grandfather passed away in 98 and my mother inherited the car (which she did drive back in her high school days) and when I was able to drive she gave it to me. So yea the mav is my first car and I'm proud to be driving such a vehicle.
My first car was actually a 1964 Dodge Dart which I totaled at 15, parents made me get a 66 Cadillac (big and safe...if they only knew) which was a fun cruiser for me and a helluva lot of other people. I then bought a 62 Chevy II at 16, sold it for a 65 Mustang Fastback, also bought a 70 Mustang Fastback still while I was 16 and finally at 17 I bought my first Maverick...a Grabber green 71 Grabber which I have now owned for 30 years. I just loved cars and worked part time after school to support my habit. Of course the Mustangs and Mavericks addicted me forever. I have since owned over 70 different Mustangs and 18 Mavericks and Comets. Heck, I even had 45 Mustangs at once back in 1982 but I also owned a Mustang restoration shop at the time. I now own 5 1971 Maverick Grabbers and a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang which has yet to be restored...just too many projects.
Sure is and I plan on keeping it for the rest of my life. Mav's are diffinately the way to go. 1970 302 3spd 2 door.
My Mav is the first car I have owned but I have owned two trucks before I inherited the Mav. It will be in the family for a long time too.
well i my self did not have a maverick but My daughter just bought her first car. a 1970 Maverick, straight 6, with 38,000 ori. miles. i bought it off of the ori. owner for $1000, its our big project to get finished by the time she can drive, she statrs in March, we should have it done by then. the Maverick is a great car to have as your first, theres plenty of metal around you to keep you safe when those first fender-benders happen. will post pictures soon of "the BIG project" - firerabove
My first car was a 1973 Ford Maverick. I purchased it in 1979 from my father who was the original owner. and i have owned it ever since.
My first car was a 1966 Mustang coupe. I loved that little car and thanks to that Mustang, I became totally hooked on Fords. Heck, at one time I had three Mustangs going at the same time. I guess that made me the black sheep of the family since my Dad was 100% Chevy all the way. The next 5 cars I owned were also Mustangs until that fatefull day I traded my 68' Stang for my 77' Maverick. Now I have two Mavericks. Gotta love these cars named after herd animals. You have to have more than one.
My first car was a trusty 82 toyota cressida. Definitely a grocery getter but it got me around and rather quickly at that. After 2 minor and 2 pretty serious accidents it was rendered undriveable and with the $2500 I got for it (1999) I bought the mav. However the first car that I ever fell in love with was a stallion mav that belonged to a friend of my Mom's, a little old lady who used to race it on a dirt speedway! Man I wish I could find that car! My mav is the first car that I purchased on my own though, I love it and I will never sell it.
T.L. I don't have access to my digital camera right now. My mav however is a pearl blue with a black strip on the hood and black primer where the vinyl on the hood would be. The cressida, just in case you wanted to know was poop brown with plush velour interior! Yeah baby!
My first car.... My first car was a 1972 2-door Maverick, dubbed Ethel. I was a freshman in college in the spring of 1984 and my parents were coming down for the weekend to visit me. I had told my dad I wanted to go look at cars while they were there with an eye to getting something to drive. Imagine my surprise when my folks drove up to the dorm in that beautiful Maverick. It was love at first sight. I drove that car for 5 years, and then, like an idiot, gave it to my sister and her husband to drive while I bought a new car... a total waste of money. The Mav sat in a field at my dad'd house for 14 years, and is now under my carport, where I work on it when I can. My goal is to get it running again, then work on the cosmetics. I could kick myself for letting it get so bad, but hey, I'm making up for it now, I hope. This is a great thread. It's nice to find people who care about their cars like we Mav owners do. Jean My72Mav
