I almost forgot, there must have been a Capri and Merkur group staying at the hotel. I have never seen that many of those old Mercury Capri's in such nice shap in one place ever in my life. They were the little german engeneered Capris, not the Mercury sister car to the Moostang

There were those Merkur XR4Ti and the Scorpio everywhere. Not my cup of tea but cool little cars none the less.

I have a few pictures on my phone but I need to email them to myself and upload them

    I have

They normally get well over 100 Merkurs at Carlisle.

This is true. I never see a single Merkur all year long and when Carlisle rolls around they come popping out of the woodwork.

it's basically a SVO mustang, but with IRS and heated seats. And the Capri's are cool too, it's like the european Maverick/Comet.

Like the SVO but with 50 less HP. I liked that they also had the bi-plane rear wing like the SVO.

XRs are ugly. But I drive one...LOL.

Yes they are similar to the SVO Mustang in that they use the same engine, minus the intercooler and a more conservative spark & fuel table. But they respond VERY well to basic mods. Mine actually runs just as good, if not better than my 03 Lightning ;)

Oh and not all of them had bi plane wings. IIRC, the 85, 86, and 87 models had them. The 88-89 did not (going off of memory...might be wrong).

My uncle had a xr4ti with an auto trans. It had only 145 hp.
5 speed cars had more power.

the Merkurs are very cool. 4 cyl. turbo, t-5 5 speed rear wheel drive IRS, and SVO mods bolt up to the engine. I'd drive one if I could find one when I have the money for it. I looked for one before I bought one of the Fox body stangs I had.
