I went and picked up an early '70 model yesterday from a fellow board member (thanks Chris!). My brother and i left at 4am Staurday morning and didnt get back home untill mid-night. we would have been home quicker but he had some small issues with tires holding air and i had a blow-out on the car (towing with a dolly) about 20 miles after i left from picking it up. but all in all, we made it home safely with the car. we got to travel thru eastern Ky, and continueing thru WV. we drove right thru Charleston and man, the capital building is just gorgeous there!. the whole city just looks old... like it's from the 50's or something but it looked really nice. then we continued from WV to VA, driving thru Lexington, VA and then to Charlottesville (which is only about 60 miles from Richmond, and prolly an 1.2 hour drive from D.C. and the ocean). We saw some great scenery and some beautiful country sides. truley a gorgeous place to visit the country side. as for the car..... it's a 69.5, 170, 3sp manual(converted to floor), 8inch 4 lug rear(obviously not the original) and was full of parts. im going back out here in just a minute to clean it out so ill get some pics up to you all
Good Job! Always enjoyed my traveling trips picking up cars or parts! Best ones always seemed to have some perils of trouble to work through! Makes great memories after the fact! That is some nice country you traveled ! Glad you made it home ok!
So, what's the deal? You've scrounged up all the loose Mavericks in Ky. and are expanding to get the rest of them in the nearby states? Sounds like a nice catch, by the way! Jim
Thanks Yeah, seen some great countryside and i love the memories aint that the truth i guess you could say that bought 1 from VA, 2 from OH, 4 from TN and the rest have been from here.... i think lol

I lived in Charleston back from 1983-1990, and really enjoyed it there. The City does have a very "old" flavor; it really was a great place to be while in my 20's, even though it was as far from "progressive" as you could be. Charleston is very isolated - Pittsburgh is 3 hours North, Lexington, KY is 2.5 hours West, and there's really nothing substantial South or East. I enjoyed the simplicity of it, and back then, I had a 1957 Chevy (that I did a frame off restore on) to occupy my free time. And, oh yeah, that's where I met my wife - even though she was also a transplant (from Ohio). Good memories there..... Chris
