Im looking to stick a beefed up 302 bored out to 347 stroker engine with a Weiand 77-174 supercharger which is a low-profile design into my 1970 maverick. Also I am looking to throw out the original 3-speed and bolt in a 4-speed on the floor and don't know what transmission would be easiest to just bolt in with minimal modification. What parts would I need mostly for this such as motor mounts, cross member, or even how much more hood clearance I need for this application.
Thank you, and by the way I'm only 18 just in case you wanted to know for some reason.

    Howdy and :Welcome:
A toploader 4 speed or a Borg Warner T10 Will pretty much bolt in, other than cutting a hole in the floor for the shifter. The 302 is also bolt in as long as you secure a set of frame mounts.

Thanks guys but I have one more question. I'm looking to stick a weiand supercharger in it to and was wondering what kinda of hood clearance I would need so I can pick a good hood scoop.

    Welcome aboard! :Handshake
I'm running a 347, toploader 4 speed, and loving it. It's all a direct bolt in as long as you have the correct parts. Good luck with it. :)

If you are sticking a huffer on your engine you need to get some help from somebody who does that sort of thing. Your engine has to be built with the blower in mind. You can't just build a hot rod 347 and then stick a blower on it. A 347 with a blower will be a strong motor and I would suggest you get the Toploader to fit behind it. The T-10 or even a super T-10 is not as strong or as well designed as the Ford product.
I have never done supercharging but there are some good folks here who run them. I hope somebody steps up to help you with this. I would advise you to contact Weiand and ask them how much room above the basic engine you will need.
Heck, maybe I will learn something new - that would be a great birthday present.

i know this is a old post but the super charger question never got answered. the supercharger will sit under the hood but the carb and air filter will be above the hood. so you can cut a hole or get a really tall cowel hood.

Curious though how high do you think the cowl would have to be. Like 4 inches or so or would it be better to stick a snorkel scoop on it.

i suspect that 4 inches will be the min that you could fit a carb and air filter under. the only way is to do it or find some body who has. im not shure of the name but there is one memeber that has pics of his mav with a blower. he has a hole cut in the hood and the top of the blower carbs and scoop are all exposed

Another question about engine swaps how well do you guys think a turboed 4 cylinder engine such as 2.3t out of a 80's t-bird or even a 2.2t out of a early 90's probe gt
