I want to get rid of my power steering… and I read that I have to find a manual linkage including pitman arm… or get an adapter that is sold at any mustang supply house… so my question is what is this adapter called?

One more question… what else would I need in order to change from power to manual steering?

    So the bottom line is...
To convert, all you need to do is remove the assist cylinder, pump and hoses, then replace the pitman arm and center link with ones from a manual car?

I think im finding a lot of my answers in the records…
So I remove all the power stuff from my linkage and put this adapter in place of the control valve,
    without replacing the pitman arm?

If you get the adaptor, that's all you need to buy.

The adapter is the way to go because all you have to do is remove the hydraulic stuff off the linkage and screw the adapter in its place.

This is the part i dont understand?
only mount you have to break is where it mounts to the pitman arm. Wont even change your alignment.

The power steering box has less turns lock to lock so I would keep it.

here is some more info i found

    1) If you are going to drive this on the street, you will find that only replacing just the power cylinder with just the adapter will make steering a little tough.
    2) What I did was replace the power steering cylinder (adapter) and the power steering gear box (with a manual) but kept everything else the same.
    3) Now I have a complete manual steering system and my car steers very well.

I used the adaptor, not a problem.
The steering is a bit harder than if I swapped the centerlink, pitman and steering box, but much cheaper and more responsive at speed.

It will need alignment after you replace this part. It throws the geometry off.
