well we picked up a 73 maverick with a really clean body/.under chassis.

it has 67k on the 250 i6, and transmissions was recently rebuilt with a shift kit.

    now
    first things first..

eventualy the i6 has to go, as it has no lowend

i hear the 302 is a direct bolt in...only needing to buy a transmount, frame mounts and motor mounts.

is this really so, or do you still need to rebuilt the i6 c4 to v8 specs?

also plan to convert to power disks on due time...seen an article for it somewhere..

    a couple other things,

is converting to early style bumpers as eay as switching bumpers/bolts or do i need the donar front valance?

think that's all the questions i have for now

    thanks in advance
    Mike/tony

ps. this is my brothers car but its in my name/insurance since hes only 16

Welcome to the board. The tranny for the !6-250 will work, but it won't stand up very long to the punishment the 302 will give it. You will also want the belly bar that is used on the v8 cars. If you use the search function and type in the questions you'll find that most of this stuff has been discussed numerous times.:Welcome:

    ...6 to 8 swap...nuttin but nuts and bolts...:thumbs2:

the bumpers are a donor car thing (best for your buck).

Welcome aboard. If it's a 73 best bet is to just leave it alone. The 73 bumper is unique to that model year, looks just as good or better than the 70-72 bumpers.

Welcome, i would think a 250 would have low end but no top end, at least the 200Ci i'm working on is like that.

well supposivly it sat in some ones garage for 10 years...and the guy that i bought it from just put like 1 or 2k on it,
we just got it this past tues, and only thing we did was get new radiator hoses...battery and order that custom 2core aluminum radiator that i found through here
    i'll post pics later on..

i dunno...kind of like the small bumpers better...definatly needs a capri/ stang hood scoop.

and yea...take off in this things fills the same or even worse then my 92 toyota 4x4 with i4/auto

oh yea...got a can of sea foam,so perhaps that might work

2 last questions, then i'll just search on my own :)

this car needs a headliner, are there any maverick specific headliner kits out there...already tired of seeing the bar roof and lil bars.

and lastly has anyone ever fitted 15x8s with a 295-50 rear...if so what was needed?

typicaly it'd take 4.5 bs on an 8in but i only dealt with 70-72 gm a-body cars

    thanks again
    Mike
ps. i'll have picsa up tonight or tomorrow sometime
