Hello I am new to this club I am from the west coast my dad was one of the old Pro Stock gang here is our Holman Moody built 427 SOHC Hemi Maverick picture
Welcome to the madness, boy are you gonna get questions about that car!!! not to mention the requests for pics of its engine compartment/suspension set up(front) and all that jazz.I will start with one for you...Do you still have it?? We luuuuvvv those old pro-stocker Mavericks.
Thanks Guys SOHC Maverick We sold the car without engine and trans to Tom Dayton of Livermore Calif in 1989 he in turn sold it to someone els. We sold it due to running the A/FX Mustang and the Maverick was out dated. Now that this nostalgia deal is going strong and the old pro stockers are coming back I been searching to find the car. I have yet to find where its at now like to get it and restore it and run it at those events I remember the Fremont west coast nationals with my dads close friend Ed Terry and his maverick Dyno Don the good old days of the 427 SOHC. Our family member Art Himsel did a state of the art paint job for its time beautiful car. I was hoping posting this maybe someone may have seen the car or know of where its at today
That's okay Don, anybody that reads your posts already know's how old you are. Anybody that's lived in as many different places you have has got to be as old as dirt! Tell us...what year was the 1st car you ever owned? And, was it new? Just pickin on ya Don...You're the best!
Ray, Between you and Jack, I sure don't need any more friends. Did you know Brian Smith? He was friends with Ed Terry also.
Here's a recent post where we met a guy that owns one of the old Holman Moody Mavericks. Go to post #45 for pics of the car. This one is a Hubert Platt car with a Boss 429. Here's the thread: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=45369&highlight=boss+429+maverick&page=2
Brian Smith I dont remember him my dad most likely did I remember being at Ed Terrys shop a lot back than. I remember the guy "PeeVee" they called him doing the engine work for Terry. You remember Tubby? he also ran a Pro Stock Maverick herd he died not long ago seams all these old Pro Stock Mavericks are gone without a trace. We should have thought more before selling it if its all back together its worth a lot now days
Thanks for the link I know Dyno Dons SOHC Maverick is still in original condition at one time Ken Dondero was going to drive it at the reunion. Our Maverick I herd storys the guy who bought it took the firewall out to move engine back and it sat out in a feild lets hope not that would make me sick if it where true. Strange its never seen or herd of again I can kick myself silly for selling it but back than we dident know what it would be worth now
