Hi everybody I want to know what is the diameter for a air cleaner should I buy for a holley 4160 600cfm. I found one but don't know if it will fit in the same time here's the url for my air cleaner Good url to motorchrome.com
Just about all Holley 4-barrels with the exception of Dominators have a 5 1/8" diameter flange. It's almost a standard for 4-barrels of any make.
charles go to AutoZone, or somesuch. If you don't damage the item they will accept a return. It seems to me that either the Holly or the K&W site has a program to determint what size you need. The cleaner like you depicted can accept a 3" or 4" element. generally, the larger the better. The problem I have encountered is the base, if a dropped base, can interfete with engine parts, like fuel lines, the choke, the throttle linkage, etc. A "non-dropped" base can clear these items, but may restrict the size filter you can use because of the hood clearance. It seems the most common diameter is 14" I have a garage full of mistakes, good ideas, that gave way to better ideas, and interim ideas. Also, go borrow some other gearhead's for a trial fit. Charles
I thought comet 75 was asking what the inside diameter of an air cleaner needed to be to fit his 4160 Holley. Looks like black396 is thinking in terms of outside dimensions. Comet 75, if your question is if 2bbl and 4bbl carbs have the same inside diameter and can use the same air cleaner, the answer is "usually". Also Ford Autolite and Motorcraft carbs shared the same flange diameter. Adaptors are available to make the different sizes fit, usually for less than $10.
