Well the other night I had a leak in a pipe leading into the Hot Water tank at the house. My nice roommates forgot to inform me they had shut off the breaker to the hot water heater so I got a cold shower at 5:30am!!! So needless to say I was eager to fix it. I didn't get home from work until after 9pm that night so I didn't have many options. Rather than a late night trip to my friends at the 24 hr autozone....I sacrificed the heater hose and hose clamp off the Mav!

Well it turns out that hose hadn't been off in some time and it felt like the copper line going into the heater core broke when I finally got the hose off.....sure enough I fired it up today and was leaking water/anitfreeze all over!!! So I guess my effort to save a trip to the parts store has resulted in me having to remove the heater!!

Do you all think I should patch the joint or replace the whole thing?? Any suggestions are welcome...also if you think I need a new heater how much do those run??

If you patch the joint you gotta pull it...you wanna replace it if you gotta go through all that trouble...cores go for 30-40 bucks on e-bay and are probably the same if you can find one aftermarket... I know autokrafters has them too

Thanks for the input guys! I'm going to be installing a new aftermarket wiring kit so I'll probably be pulling the dash...so while I have it out I'll definately replace the heater....

    Thanks Again!

I use electrical tape and hose clamps for my leaky pipe repairs. Works like a charm.

For a minute there I thought you were asking repair advise on your house water heater. Anyway, my heater core in my Mav. started seeping the other day in my floor board. I by-passed it. It won't be long till the weather warms up. By the way. are you going to the NPD all Ford show at Waterfords Lakes Town Center? The show is Feb. 21. This weekend. I'll be there with my Mav.

Nah I got the house water heater figured out....As far as the show at Waterford Lakes I'm planning on going. I won't be taking the Mav though. I have started to tear it apart to put in my new EZ Wiring Harness so it won't be making the trip. I am planning on bringing my Mach 1. So I'll look for ya. I'll be the guy with the Competition Orange Mach 1 (I'm sure there will be more than 1) but I have a Citrus County Tag. I usually hate it when guys bring brand new cars out to car shows but I guess I"m gonna be that guy this weekend. Hope to see you there....

289Mav what exactly is the new harnes for? I want to rewire my 74 four door and have heard in a different thread that it is really freakin hard to build your own complete harness.

Hey PART-TIME sorry I missed you at the show...My Grandmother fell yesterday and I had to rush home Friday Night. The good news is her hips ISN'T broken! So once I was positive everything was squared away and there was nothing more I could do I headed back to Orlando. I got to the show about 15 minutes after registeration and they wouldn't let me in. I did park near by (in fron t of Johny Rockets) and get to look at some nice cars! Your Mav is beautiful I saw it there and hung around it for a while but I never saw ya! But man is that one nice ride!!!! Mine's Yellow/Black too but not near as nice as yours (it's build more for racing...hehehe and less for looks). Anyways just wanted to let you know I saw your car and sorry I missed you. Let me know if you're going to any more shows in Orlando. We can try to meet up.

    NEW2MAVERICK,

I ordered the kit from EZ-Wiring. It's a new complete Harness, complete with Fuse Block. It is prewired for everything. It just arrived yesterday and I"m just now getting a few minutes to look it over. I'll keep everyone posted on how difficult it is to install. It's nice because it is all colored wire, labeled about every 6 inches where it is going. And it was under $200 delivered. I just got tired of fighting with old wires and a big mess. Plus this will be a little safer than running everything off the original fuse block and 30 yr old wiring. Their website is below...I ordered the EZ-21 Harness....let you know more when I get into the project....

Hey Dave, I circled all 357 cars twice looking for ya but could'nt seem to make contact. I figured something important must have come up for you not to show. Sorry to hear about your grandmother and it's good to hear she is O.K. That was my first time attending that show and it was a good one. Stay in contact with the board here and we will get together at one of these shows in the future. Ken
