That is a good looking 4 door. The interior is great because it goes with almost any other color. After seeing and riding in my old 4 door at the Gathering with Jim Allens dad I wish I hadn't sold it, but I wouldn't have accomplished what Jim has with it, he has really treated it good. I have a small back bumper with guards and the black strip on the bumper and the little ones on the guards, did they make a small front bumper with the black rubber strip accross it? I've seen the guards on the front but not the strip accross it, just wondering.
Ward, The rubber came on the 1973 small rear bumper only, never on the small front bumper. How you doing Bro?
Originally this had bumper guards front and back. The rubber strip on the guard was green and textured to match the vinyl roof. This car has been in a few wrecks, front and rear. The replacement front bumper had no guards and the rear guards were mounted crooked. Plus the green strip was torn up pretty bad. So I just put a regular rear bumper to match the front. I have never seen horizontal rubber strips on a small bumper car.(72 and older) On another note, i got home early today so I did some more work on the car. I installed a fixed mast antenna, (it had a bent up extension mast), Got the sport lamps working correctly, got the seat belt warning system working (the buzzer is annoying but I like that little red light), and I removed all the top trim and started stripping of the vinyl roof. Its no wonder they rust, there is no paint on it at all, just over spray.
Nick, I am doing great, how about you? I didn't know for sure on the bumper, it has the 72 and older brackets on it so I wondered. I guess I will try to sell the black rubber parts, the bumper looks like crap but all 3 rubber parts are in very good condition. Yeah Dennis, I guess they did as little as they could get away with probably thinking the vinyl would be enough protection. Maybe you ought to just paint it?
