Has anyone took a 4 door and made it into a 2 door Maverick? I just did several searches and found nothing.

    Thanks.

i dont think ive seen that yet. there were some people talking about putting 4 door rear 1/4's, trunk and back glass on to a 2 door body though. even a few photo shops of what it would look like

id probably start with a 4 door shell. cut the middle post out, put the doors from a 2 door on and then use the door skins from the back doors to fill in the 1/4 panels

that is if i had any fabrication skills what so ever ;)

I have given it some thought but will never try it. What I would do is draw a vertical line through the middle of both doors and remove everything in-between the 2 lines. So I would use the back half of the rear door and graft it to the front half of the front door.

Here, I used Paint to illustrate my idea.

Actually, I had two ideas. I like the back of the 4 door Maverick (How the roof comes down straighter, rather than the soft back curve the 2 door has). So I was thinking of doing one of the following:

Taking a 4 door, cutting the roof, moving the back portion of the roof about 1.5-2ft toward the front while leaving the front portion along (sectioning the roof). That way the front stays the same, but I have a flat trunk area.

    or

Taking a 2 door car and putting a 4 door roof on it. I'm thinking this might be a little harder since the roof has that slightest curve back to the taillights - might look weird.

But I was thinking of taking a 2 door car door and putting it in the 4 door to make it more proportioned.

Tony, would you by chance happen to have or know where to find the photoshopped pictures?

    Thanks for the replys.

Somebody photo shopped the exact thing I think you are wanting to do. They used Jason Miller's old green 4 door to do it. Maybe someone still has that picture..?

I think it looks pretty cool. Who knows, if I get all my other projects done and I still have the 4 door.....:hmmm:

Is that a photoshop, or a real one? The thing looks like a real one, and a nice one at that.

Does he still visit the forum? I wouldn't mind knowing what he did to that car (was it a 2 or four door, what he did to the top, ect.)

    Thanks all. :)

Its not a real car, at least not as a 2 door.

That green one is exactly what I want my Comet to look like.. except with a lower roofline. And the white one could be a killer track car, especially with that short wheelbase... Cheetah killer anyone?

    Dennis,

I really like the shortened white one that you photoshopped. We were talking about something like this in a post just last week.

This was done to many 55-57 Chevy four doors around 1970. Add a tube axle and it would be sooooo freaky ...

It would balance out my keeping my Comet "so factory-looking". Balance in life is a good thing.... even when it's weird ...

Just think what it would look like with small bumpers and a spoiler. :D
