i did a '65 Cheby wagon once...welded up the back doors and put the 2 door insides in it. they had a 2 door wagon in '64 but not in '65. ......
I had the idea of using a fastback Mustang roof on a Mav. Maybe that could be the elusive Grabber2 I have seen mentioned
someday, i would like to try the idea posed in the green car pic... but has a convertible. that will be a while from now
Yep... that's the pic. That car was actually a 4 door in real life, that pic is an extremely good photoshop job someone on here did. The original pic is here. Unfortunately, the car was destroyed by a fire earlier this year.
You want a convertible? me too. check out these threads. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=13190&highlight=convertible http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=13569&highlight=convertible http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=13764&highlight=convertible
The green one looked like a '69 Camaro roof at first glance. Saw a round Falcon last month, took over 31" out of the wheel base, front half of the door was a 2-door back half was from a 4 door.
I was laughing until I saw the green mav. Now I'm saying why didn't ford build it. That is One cool concept car. Great photo shop work. That person could have a side job photoshoping our dreams into reality.
I have always wanted to try this as well. I really like the 4-door roofline and I think it looks good with the slightly longer wheelbase. If I were doing it, I'd start with a 4-door car, remove both doors, replace the front door with one from a 2-door car, move the post back and use the sheetmetal from the back door to build the filler panel. The hardest part is finding a way to make the new quarter window. This whole conversation reminds me of the 2 cars pictured below. The first one is a Fairmont Futura with the "fastback" type roofline. The second one is a Fairmont 2 door sedan. I'm not sure why Ford built these 2 models at the same time but they did. Just makes me wish they had done it with the Maverick as well.
There used to be a Fairmont Futura like the first pic running around here that had been converted into a Ranchero pickup. It looked so natural, I could never figure out why Ford didn't build it themselves....
