I have a 1970 Maverick that's been in and used by my family as long as I can remember (it's the same age as me! :thumbs2:). I think we're all finally done using it.

I'm wanting to know where to post (which forums) to get info as to how to list it (I'm not sure what the important stuff is that people want to know). And I want to know what a "fair market price" would be... whatever that is! :D

    Thanks

For a 70 model folks want to know ...

    1) Condition (list all rust and damage if any)
    2) Completeness ... parts missing?
    3) Engine and Tranny Type
    4) Is is dash or column ignition switch
    5) Is it a Grabber
    6) Does it run.

I always forget that one since they don't exist in GA for cars that old.

I'm not sure if it has "parts missing" other than the functional ones... LOL

    It runs!

What is a Grabber? How would I know if mine is one??

The engine was replaced a few years back from a similar car - need those details too, right?

Will have to check with Mom. They've had it insured at least until just recently, so I think that part is OK...

OK, here's a summary as I know. What am I missing? :hmmm:

This '70 Maverick runs well - was used nearly daily until a couple months ago. It is not a Grabber. It is an automatic. The ignition is on the steering column.

It has been repainted once - about 6-8 years ago - was originally what I'd call "army" or "pea" green. The clearkote is starting to peel off on the roof. It has 2-4 areas with some rust (small areas). I think the seats have been replaced - they seem different from my childhood memories! :D

The engine was replaced once (about 4-6 years ago?) - with one from a similar car, but with a lot less miles. We really don't know how many original miles are on this car - don't know how many times it's "turned over". It's a 6 cylinder.

Most of the parts are there, but not all in perfect condition.

We do have the title - it's been licensed and insured through the years!

I'm posting 3 photos - I have a total of about 12, but I didn't clean/wash the car up first, so they're not all the greatest.

When I was taking photos and peering in the back seat - some strong memories came flooding back! It used to be my Grandma's car when I was a kid, and I have many memories of going to the beach in it - she lived near the beach and we didn't! Great memories as long as I don't recall the sunburns!

Definitely has an early interior and an added passenger side mirror. That and the big bumper ... safety additions?

Looks like it has been well-cared-for. :thumbs2:

    Minor accident...

OK, I'm figuring it out gradually... It got repainted around 2000. Engine was replaced around 2001/02. In 2003/04? it got run off the road (fiddling with the radio instead of watching the curve!) and got cosmetic damage to the left fender and bumper. They replaced the whole fender, grill, bumper and parking/blinker lights.

Dad doesn't recall at all when the passenger-side mirror was added. He says that the seats are the original - just been reupholstered. Headliner was also replaced.

He also said that his mom (my Grandma) purchased it brand new. So it has been in our family the whole time (various family members, though).

    Any more questions?

Tennessee is a big state. Why dont you list your location in the state. You might get a quicker reply

Reply for what? I'm not "listing" it here to sell it. I'm wanting to know what I need to include, and get some suggestions as to pricing.

And FYI/FWIW, I'm in SE TN...

without seeing anymore pics of the body and just assuming its a fairly solid car with no major areas of cancer i'd say $2K would be a fair asking price

but i hope thats not a chain holding the motor in place is it?

and that sticker on the drivers side of the valve cover may be able to give you more infor about what the motor is from. assuming its the original valve cover to that motor and not the car its self, or some other car

the aircleaner looks to say 170 on it but once again i dont know if thats the motor's air cleaner or just one that fit and was put on??

saddly the 170 was about the bottom of the barrel for stock maverick motors

Im from north east Tennessee. I just read so many post that only list the state not the city or area. Some want to sell parts or cars with no area. It would be so easy for people to list the city or area. But thats my opinion and as they say every one has one.
