I have been running like this for as long as I can remember, maybe 20 years. I have always had issues with bearings and seals going bad because I had a bent wheel. I am going back together with new bearings and seals and had the wheels straightened, it was bent as I already knew. In all the years I have used it this way I don't feel this is a big issue, but would like opinions. I am willing to put a new or used good one on I just don't know where to locat one. If you have one, I am intrested... This one is on the pass side. I say that cause it does not have the small raised channell the driver side does at the bottom. Looks like for seepage to go down or something. Another note. I don't like the way the axle looks at the spline end. It gets kinda skinnie about 6" before the splines. Is that normal? I'm hoping that the wheel was the only problem but i'm thinking I may still have another issue once I go back together. So I ask, Who makes these axles that are stronger and are a direct fit?
the axle could be bent, the housing could be bent. i see it all the time. usually if a wheels bent the axle is bet too. the taper before the splines is normal. the theory there is the axle will twist there and spring back with out brakeing. you can get replacemnt axles for a 64 65 mustang and cut a litle off the splines to fit the maverick. i can sell you some or you can order some mail order.
What is that aqua-blue thing photo-shopped onto the first picture? Looks kinda spiral-y, like a vacuum cleaner or blower or something...
Photo shopped? LOL! That aint shopped... Now that's funny! It's a blower for a kids jump room thingy. It's pretty strong and it's not being used so I use it. The kid brings it out like twice a year for birthdays...
I would like info on new stronger direct fit ones. Can I get that from you if I call the # in your sig? Thanks for the reply too...
ya that number in my sig will reach me or my partner here steve, were here mon to fri 8-5 pacific time
I was not able to locate any thing today around here. I guess I could call you but if you don't have any thing stronger and a direct fit than I may just get a better plate and stab these back in. Is there a procedure shops can do to determin if they are bent in any way?
to see if the axle is bent put it in the housing and put a dial indicater on the face of the axle and rotate it. it will show if its bent. the axles I sell are stronger than stock and i will make shure its direct fit for you.
