87 mustang rear end

    would a 87 8.8" 3.50 gear ratio Posi rear end out of a Mustang 5.0 with 4 lugs fit on my 71 maverick.?:huh:

    I really don't know all I know its a 71 maverick all stock..

    Oh, if you knew what rearend it was, maybe someone would have a posi, or tell you how to get one.

    They offered 2 different rearends in mavericks so I've been informed

    fox stang wheels have a different 4 lug pattern than maverick 4 lug

    About the best chance of finding both a direct fit rear with a posi unit would be a Lincoln Versailles rear, but not all these had traction loc units. Some did, some didn't. If you want both, you're best off finding a direct fit rear and then adding the posi unit of your choice. Direct bolt in rears: 74-80 Versailles (9") Granada, Monarch (both 8 & 9"), 57-59 Ford (9") 65-66 Mustang (almost all were 8"), 67-70 Mustang, Fairlane (most were 8", a few 9's with the 351W, 351C and bigblock cars) There are other 8" rear applications too, including the later Mavs and Comets
