Put the Windsor in the Mav Saturday, and bolted up the scatter shield to put the Top Loader in.The trans. is out of a '65 289 Mustang and I found it takes a 25 spl. yoke with a 1.500 O.D.at the seal.compared to all the other Top Loaders I've had thats an odd spline, anyone have a yoke,or know where I could find one? Spicer does not make one,and all my suppliers say no...any old Mustang guys out there with One...Thanks Jack

CJ Pony Parts sells a 25 spline yoke for $90. Their part # is YK1

The 25 spline top loader output shaft is prone to failure.

    Agreed.
Remanufacturers, like David Kee Toploaders for example, junk the 25 spline shafts when they rebuild the trannys.

If I remember correctly that small yoke was also used in some early to mid 60s 6 cylinder/3-speed applications.

Been running the same 25 spline for 30 years in my Stallion. No problems, ever.

Yep, I ran one of those for a lot of years, too. The problem isn't so much the small splines but the small, tapered tranny output shaft.

Yeah, I dont think they will withstand lots of horsepower but my low 300 hp or so car broke the 8 " rear, which I considered the weakest link in my drivetrain. Now I think the trans is the weakest link,, besides me lol.

The six cylinder yoke is too small in diameter to fit the Toploader. The T-10 used the 25 spline yoke. I hammered my old T-10 for 32 years with no yoke problem.

Thanks for all the replies guys, all my other Toploaders were 28 spl.and I never had any trouble with them.I found a couple Mustang places showing they stock a 25 spl. yoke, but so far no one has one in stock to measure O.D.for me,they all say they may have one in a couple weeks,I didn't try the place you mentioned Mavaholic,I'll give them a call.I really don't know how that small shaft will hold up to my 357 W,I know it's over 425hp,I guess I'll start looking for a spare 28 spl. Trans.

Called all the Mustang places, finally found someone that actually stocks the yokes that are on their site, they are all 1 3/8 O.D. Found a guy in Dearborn that sells nothing but new and used yokes,he knew exactly what I need, although he does not have one,he said they are really hard to find...SOOO Maverick /Ford guys, take a look in your stash and see if anyone has one they will part with...A rear YOKE for a 4 Sp.Toploader trans. ,25 spline,1.500 O.D.1310 ujoint size (3 1/4 x 1 1/16 cup) Thanks Jack
