What are my choices for replacing points and condenser for a 1972 351w? And no I don't want to install new points.
DuraSpark II is as good as any and probably the least expensive. Other than replacing the points and condensor with new ones.........
I personally like the Pertronix. Cost about $80 and takes about 30 minutes to install the 1st time. Would only take 10 minutes if you didn't have to read the destructions. Makes a big difference on starting and performance too.
I think so but this is the one I used: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/65-7...ryZ34205QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I've used the Pertronix I & II and the Crane XR-1. The only difference I've seen was the Pertronix I will develop a miss after you have a "hiccup" backfire thru the carb. To fix it you have to kill the motor and restart it.
Before I ran MSD, I just ran down to the local wrecker and ripped out a stock ford duraspark and had awesome results. Easy to install and zero problems.
I used a Pertronix for years until I hotwired the car to start it without a dash. Didn't think about the resister in line and put 12v straight to the coil and Pertronix. Some Pertronix don't have that problem, mine was an older one that got smoked. Once I get'er going again, I'm dropping another Pertronix in there. Absolutely no issues with it at all.
