Just acquired a '73 6 cyl 250 Maverick in great condition.
Question: Will '73s burn Unleaded gasoline, or do I have to add Lead? This is an original car with no Mods.

Thanks for your help in advance
    Phil

    Lead or NO Lead

Maybe I out-thunk myself on this one. I have old '66 car that I have to add lead to each tank of gas and since the Maverick was built before the UNLEADED requirement, thought you'd have to do the same thing to it?

The lead helps lubricate the valves/seats so they dont get worn out...Unless your engine sees alot of high RPM/heavy load usage you wont need to worry about the lack of lead.

The original 302 motor in my '72 Comet went 140K miles (70K by me) before I cracked a piston. It was driven pretty hard, too. Never had a valve job, and unleaded gas with no additives. I am second owner (since '92) and I doubt the original owner used any additives either.
