Hey everybody. So, I just got my old Mav out of my dad's storage building and towed it up to my place and am excited to start a restore on it. You can see a picture of it looking pretty nice below in my sig. I got it from a little old lady on my 16th birthday. She just up and gave it to me because she said she didn't need it anymore. It didn't run at the time and it had a straight 6 in it that (after we got it running) blew up. So we dropped in a pretty mean 302 and it was a fun little sleeper to have in high school and college. It's been sitting now for about 4 years, and doesn't look too hot or run too hot or smell too hot. So... It needs work. So, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself as I'll probably be posting here often with updates. Mavericks are awesome.
hey me welcome to the forum i'm fairly new to the site too this is a great site to learn from just soak in all the wisdom from all and you will have a sweet car brad
Thanks everybody. I didn't even know that there was such an active maverick Board on the web. So this, i'm sure will be my primary source of motivation and knowledge when tackling this project. And oh yes, my name is Joe. I forgot to mention that in the intro, i'm 28, engaged to a fantastic woman who's way too good for me... (she may be reading this so I gotta make it look good) .... and super hot/smells good. Annnywho. Green Mavericks are clearly the best kind of Mavericks.
Green back in the 70s was a hated color, now Greens and especially all Lime colored muscle cars bring a premium price.
Tires are uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS, (sorry don't have the exact specs with me) and wheels are 14x7" They came off a torino that we found in the junk yard and then had them powder coated.
That is good to know. I'm going to keep it the same color green for the re-paint, probably black out back around the tail lights and do some sort of black on the hood. Not sure if i want it all black as it currently is. I also want to put on some American Racing Tourc Thrust 15x7" wheels.
ironic as it is i'm picking up a green maverick this weekend. like a hunter green. thinking about painting it silver and calling it bullet due to the three bullet holes in the windshield. i've only come across one car half as cool as a maverick. it was a comet
Welcome! nice '73 and love the color. i have a 4dr with the same color code as your's. im glad to see you have have an interest for the old car!
