My "77 Mav has a leak. It is coming out at the bottom where the bellhousing meets the case. It only drips when the car is running. I rebuilt the tranny about 6 months ago. I am thinking it could be a bad front pump seal. Could it be the pump itself???? How would I know?

Your having the same issue as me right now, front pump seal, but mine is leaking really bad. It will only cost around $5 for the seal but you will have to pull the trans out to put it in. :(

Sounds like the front seal. Make sure you don't hit it too hard and disform it. Can be done easy. Askk me how I know.:D

Put some vaseline on the new seal and converter shaft before you install it,and make sure you dont lean the converter on the seal while installing it in the trans.Good luck.

Mavman has the key. If you don't lube the seal and shaft before you run the engine it will burn the seals sealing lip and leak very soon after installation.
