Hi, every one. Iam thinking about buying my cousins 71' maverick and it has a 200 in it now and would like to put a 302 or 351W in place. Will the small block ford V8 fit with the 200 frame engine pads or mounts? Also he has a junk 77' Granada with 5 lugs and disc brakes, what do I need to do to make the swap? The spindle change over maybe? Thanks for any infor.
No, the 200 parts will not work. You will need to get the proper 302 Maverick frame stands and rubber motor mounts. The frame stands can be found on here pretty easily, the motor mounts can be bought at your local auto parts store. It is also best to get the V8 transmission cross member if you plan to run dual exhaust. You didn't mention what transmission, but if it's an auto, you will need to find a V8 C4 and the proper bell housing, flex plate and torque converter. You will need the complete rear end, front spindles and outer tie rod ends off the Granada. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more details.
Thanks for the infor, I did find the frame stands on e-bay and at Crites. The granada rear is that a direct bolt in like the spring pearches or have to weld in another pair? I will be using a C-4 trans. Thanks
Make sure when you get the flex plate and torque convertor for the tranny you get the right ones. There is a 157 and a 164 tooth flexplate. and torque convertors for each. Also a small and a large bellhousing. This is a good place for tranny info http://www.mustangcentral.net/tech/c4.html
