Corbin; good find! Nice to see another one saved from the clutches of the crusher.

Thanks guys! Yep, there is A LOT of weird emissions stuff for the fuel vapors. Good thing it is all intact. :) The color will stay the same, and the top is going. Anyone ever seen one like it? The only tops on Mavs I have seen are solid colors.... Anyway, I'm thinking about the sleeper idea with some wider rims and maybe the stock hubcaps. If not, I may get some old Americans like on my other car - they look good... It was $500.

You stole that thing! Well done.
    Very nice original car Corbin.
I am in total agreement with you about that top. I didn't think it looked bad at all until I saw the closeup. Hideous!
    Well done.
I'll give you $501.00 right now for it!
    :D

actullay i have one of those on my 73. that was a recall sticker for some idiot that sued ford for starting the car in gear and it hit someone. so basicly the recall was just to stick a sticker on the car to warn people to step on the brake b4 starting the car.

..I have seen that vinyl top on a 70 something Cougar-
but never a Maverick or Comet.

Good find. Is all that emissions stuff required to be inspected
    and working in CA?

That top is kinda neat and I'm sure it would be quite rare. I know the Mopars with the Mod top are worth a few bucks.

    Nice Car!

I believe the top is called Houndstooth. Very rare. I've only seen 2 other cars in person that had it.

I got one of those stickers for my 71 many years ago. Ford had a problem with a lot of the c-4 jumping out of park unexpectedly. The sticker was cheaper than recalling millions of tranny's. This was a problem with most models equiped with the c-4. I always remembered that especially when I'm tunning under the hood and car is idling.

I have a 78 ford van with a C6 that did that, popped out of park and backed into a building across a parking lot, I'm glad no one was hurt.
