Engine swap question

    got a 1992 5.0 HO motor....was told the distributor needs to be a 85/86 mustang...to run right? The original would not advance correctly because of electronics....switching to carb....please hit me back fellas

    Yea,but the MSD also comes with the cast gear,so you'll have get it changed out too.Cheapest/quickest would probably be to go to the local chain store & get a new '85 GT 5spd distributor.

    I wouldn't run a Bronze gear under any circumstance. I ran one for about 100 miles and it had already worn into the teeth. A buddy of mine ran one and it didn't last but 2500 miles and was worn smooth. Here are a couple of options the dist. is a drop in and go, Or use this gear on a stock ford dist. But if you use the gear you MUST set the height of the gear as per instructions that is supplied with the gear.

    besides the distributor with the steel gear which ignition module do i need for the 92 motor?
