Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here has replaced any glass with "New" glass, instead of pulling from a donor? I was thinking New glass would be lighter and safer.

The only glass you can get new is the windshield and I seriously doubt it is any lighter but it sure is nice. Every now and then you can luck up on some NOS side glass but I've never seen a new back glass.

Dont know about safer but the reproduction windshields are definitely lighter.

Is there a specific company that has repro windshields, or just any auto glass co.?

Call any glass shop...but call more than one and shop around. They often use the same glass but can be quite different in prices.

I have a new one sitting on the floor in the spare bed room that I bought like a year ago. The local glass guy charged me around $200 installed. He came to my house and took out the old and when the new one came in, about 3 days later, he left it and said to call him when i'm ready to put it in. He said he was going to use "goo" along with my gaskett.
