im looking for a holley 600 and i find this carb on craigslist What do you guys think about this carb http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/987183289.html Also he have a Holley contender intake mainifold that if I get both, it will sell them together for $85 https://post.craigslist.org/manage/987163503/8yzme i have a 71 comet 302/m c4/t can fit in my car? anyone got any suggestions - ? thank you ,
I would go ahead and buy them at 85.00, keep the carb and sell the SBC manifold on ebay, to recoup some of your investment. Should bring around 50.00, so the carb cost you 35.00. Then find a good dual plane intake for your Ford. Should find one for around 50.00 too, so you still have an 85.00 purchase.
I just want to build my car with a good engine something like this http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=3613&catid=searchresults&searchid=4432 Buy a used carburetor and rebuilding I have no ideas for carburetors What does This Mean ? List 9834-2 Vacuum secondaries Electric choke is it a good carb to rebuild? what type of intake do i need ? which is the best? (holleys)? thanks guy
if i am corect...when it has manual choke...its like a laun mower...you pump the button 3 times and start it up...you press the gas and it has been "choaked" that alows it to start...i think electric is when it automatically does it for you.... that 600 is a good carborator (or so i have herd)
dont forget to add the price of a rebuild kit and a power valve replacement kit for that holley. other than that it should be a good deal even with those added in. electric means the pump to set and then when it is warm you kick the pedal and it shuts off. manual means you run a cable to the carb or pop the hood each time and set the carb while it is warming up. ( or sit in the car keeping it alive). vacuum secondaries are good for street use, the double pumper usually runs richer than i like for the street. it just means the secondaries dont open up and start adding fuel until the vacuum hits the right point. the choke, secondaries and accelerator squirt are all just a few things that can be adjusted on one of these.
Holley kits include the powervalve. No separate kit for that needed. There are several list numbers for 600 vacuum secondary Holleys 9834 is just one. Most are 1850, Ford application 600 was 80457. There are others as well. If you truly want a Holley, look only at those whose finish tells you it's a fairly recently mfg'd carb. Soemthing that looks like it's new or close to it. I pick these up for anywhere from $100-$150.
