Im sure what Im looking for is here somewhere, but a quick search didnt do the trick. My question is this: are the early Mav (70-72) v8 drum spindles the same as the Mustang "big bearing" drum spindles? Im getting a good tax return and want to upgrade the spindles on my Comet (pre-Mav era) so I can run the s197gt brakes, and I know where I can get a set of Mav spindles cheap.

Ford went to the big bearings in 1970. Well actually the '69 Boss had big bearings also

They should be the same, look for D0OA-3105-F & D0OA-3106-F casting numbers.

I have found those drum brake spindles on 1970-72 Maverick and Comets regardless of engine.

Yep, early Mav and Comet drum spindles are the same as 1970 Mustang drum spindles, 1970 is the only Mustang that matches.

OK, newbie here. What is this upgrade your talking about? I've done alot of research for classic Mustangs upgrading their brakes, but have not heard about using S197 stuff, only Granada and SN95 Cobra brakes.

    Please enlighten me.:)
