It's been a long time since I have seen one of those tachs!
    Cool. Does it work.

Thrush sidepipes. They look pretty restrictive-small and sharp angle.

    Nice pics, thanks for posting.

Tach still works :yup: but is in retirement for now after I saw the going price on eBay ($700). The screw holding the guts to the back of the cup broke years ago so I have a longer bolt w/jam nuts holding it together. Nobody will know unless the take it apart and look inside. Sidepipes have 2" pipe from header collector. I guess if no headers you could do away with the 'S'. Maybe with shorty headers too. But who ever heard of Shorty headers in 70-72.
I'm going to clean them up and put them on my Maverick

I received more info on the Comet Stabber today in case anyone is interested, I have been emailing with a guy that had one and he is to send me some pics. Here is the info he sent.

Yes I have some pictures of my car, in fact, Richard Pugmire(son of Mr. Pugmire) helped me order mine special, it was a "Spoiler 302, Stabber". It had a spoiler underneath front airdam and a Hood Tachometer, ala Pontiac GTO, its the only one like it. Let me dig up some pictures and I,ll email them to you. The Side Pipes were J.C. Whitney, Johnson Tire Service(now defunct) did all the mods except electrical. Rick

He is to send me pics when he digs them out and more info, I will pass it along with his permission.

You could always contact Richard Pugmire himself. He is still there and might be willing to throw you a bone. Never know what guys like that have up in the loft stored away. Never know till you ask. :)

I met a guy at that used to work at Pugmire. He said he used to drive the Comets back and forth to Johnson Tire Service for the conversion. He said they had the wheels and side pipes stacked to the ceiling waiting for conversions.

My cousin the original owner of my car sent me all the documentation he had on the car. The sales slip, owners manual, the salesmans business card, every service invoice, even the first insurance cards comlplete w/the little 1971 calender that came with them. This is some of it.

Here is a pic of the current engine. a 351. I would like go back to the original 302 so I'm considering selling the 351. As you can see it's a work in progress. I have a new wiring harness from Ron Francis to install next.
