[IMG]Hey I am new to this site, and I am in need of a grabber hood. Any good ideas of how to cheaply get one?

First of all, welcome aboard! Now, You're wanting to put a Maverick hood on your Comet? You know it won't match up with your grille and front bumper, right? The hood latch is also different. The parts will interchange but you'll need to change more than just the hood to make it work right. Is your hood bad or do you just like the looks of the grabber hood?
There are a few members in your area so they might be able to help you find anything you're looking for. Good luck with the car. :)

Oh yeah...cheap and grabber hood don't go together very good. Few and far between.

    hi

I am needing more clearance. Not mmuch but just about 1-2 inches. Would the Grabber fix this?

Not any better than what you have. Have you considered a Comet GT type scoop? You could cut the hood then.

Much cheaper! You can buy aftermarket scoops for less than $100 that look like the Comet GT scoop. If I had a Comet, that's the way I would go.

Well I am putting an experimental intake off of a Shelby Cobra on the wonderful 302, a demon 650 carb, and a ridiculous filter. Will include some pics in a week or 2.

Just a heads up... The Grabber hood is the same height as stock. They even use the same frame. Just fancy skin on the Grabber hood.

The GT scoop will allow you to keep your Comet front cap, and should give you an inch or possibly two.

There are plenty of other options too, if you need more. I'd be surprised if you get a full 2" out of a GT scoop.

:Welcome: to the board. My Comet GT hood scoop is funtional. Gives me 2" more clearance over the stock hood (without the scoop). I love it.... It should fix your problem... Good luck....
