    Someone suggested a thread was started on this subject....so I'll start,L=like,D=dislike(yes,I thought up those snappy abbreveations all by myself:clap:);
L-fastbacky styling in a car that didn't change much during it's life
    D-they could've changed the tail lights/grill a little more
    L-the Grabber/Comet GT striping/packages
    D-the LDO moulding
    L-disc brakes
D-4 lug drums should be banned from highway use
    L-small bumpers,they were designed w/the car.the 73 front is a good comprimise
D-crash bumpers-maybe they would've looked better if they spent more than 5 minutes designing them
    L-they came w/302s
D-they were only bottom feeder,2 bbl motors
    L-rear fenderwells(on 2drs)can take a good sized tire
D-stock 5" rims all around kinda make 'em look big-hipped
L-I love the Fomoco dogpans/rings look
    D-the body colored LDO hubcaps-yuk
    L-the under-dash shelf-it looks cool
D-the glovebox, but at least you got somewhere for papers N stuff
L-Grabber buckets look great...but LDO buckets are much more comfy
D-the cheap, cloth insert zebra-striped stuff in the later cheapy cars. The old plaid stuff was much more durable
L-light cars run good w/mild engines
D-everyone thinks they're lighter than what they really are
    L-musclecar look/feel w/o the pricetag
D-not getting respect among old car folks(but it's gettin' better)
How about you? What do you love/love to hate about 'em?

    D - Big bumpers.
    D - Glove box dash.
D - All black speedometer in the later cars.
    D - Shock towers.
D - Steering linkage setup which mandates the use of a front sump oil pan.
    D - Everyone thinks it's a Nova/Camaro/Mustang/Pinto/AMX.

I love everything else about these cars.

the economy of the times demanded a small, economic car. that's why they didnt have a V8 their first year :)

L - It lives up to it's name
    D - not enough Shelby's :p
    L - Power/Weight ratio
D - no true performance versions from the showroom floor
L - Light but maintains a stable wheelbase (1 slip of the wheel in a pro-stock pinto and you might be on your side)
    D - shock towers
L - reliability (noone's complained about mav's it's always gremlin, pinto, pacer, vega, monza, etc.)
D - skinny white-walls on early models (kinda screams grandmother's car to me)
L - the production numbers (570,000+ in the 1st year)
D - how many have been destroyed

L- the price i paid for mine in 1993- $200
D- at car shows sorta being treated like a 33 year old Comet is not classic enough to attend THEIR car show- nobs!
L- having some guy pull up to me at a gas station in a $150,000 car (BMW) and freak out about how much he loves these cars and remembers the great times he had in his Maverick or Comet way back in the day and would love to have another... that's just pure fun!!:disagree:

L- the flip-out quarter windows (saw these mentioned in an earlier post, and some folks may not like them ... I love them because they are unique and am thinking about getting a 2 door Explorer for a daily driver partly because it has them too ;) )
L- The sleeper aspect of these cars
    D- Shock Towers
D- How hard it is to get original bucket seats and tracks.
D- They should have gone further with these in performance trim and options.
D- They should have been available with 4 speeds.
L- the "Dare to be Different" aspect of owning and driving one.
L- the fact that they can still be built on a budget ... prices have stayed reasonable.
L- most everything else about them and the experiences of having them for for 20+ years. :thumbs2:
