the 200 the starter will be up above the bottom of the bell housing kinda up next to the block above the oil pan and the 250 the starter is in the same spot as the 302 sitting down below. that i would say is a pretty good way to tell the difference.
Is it possible to have the different converter tho? Hmmm, if the ring gear is on the converter, how is the converter connected to the crank?
via very small flexplate that bolts to the crank... 200's will have a 3 bolt starter, 250's have a 2 bolt (these interchange with 302's)
Also, 200's have a 3 bolt water pump versus the 4 bolt pump forthe 250. The rear engine flange is trapezoidal on the 250. 200's have the ring gear on the convertor which is bolted to the flex plate which is attached to the crank. A real Mickey Mouse setup but it works. 250's have the flex plate and ring gear integral.
Thanks guys, i'll have to verify what I have. When I bought this Comet I was told it's a 250 and I don't have a reason not to believe him. I just wanta make sure he wasn't missinformed somehow passing that on to me... Mean, i'm just covering any missed info incase I asked you for the wrong part. I just wonder why this balancer didn't apply.
have no clue why it's different, but no worries. still got ya covered just lemme know what u find out
Finaly got to look at it and the starter is low and looks like the one on my 302. ... Any good 250 ac compressors out there?
I just want to bolt it on tho... getting lazy and want to spend the extra time on MY GT. Any suggestions by the way? ...FFB...
