uncomfortable interior

I changed my heater core- now i have heat- comfortable, and put in high back bucket seats - now really comfortable - that made me very happy, and the rest i just expect and love when i drive my 30 plus year old Comet.

 

as for sound, what mufflers you running and where do they exit? i had blown out glass packs when i first bought it and changing to flowmasters made it quiter in the car, while still loud and mean outside. also, for the seats, just about any buckets are more comfortable than the stock bench (i have had LDO, grabber, and bench seat cars) you live in an area where there are lots of junk yards to choose from filled with parts, check out some of the other seating related posts and you should get some great ideas what to look at in the yards for dimes on the dollar. besides you think the stockers are bad, you should try the carbon fiber mesh of a new subaru i had to get seat covers because carbon fiber is strong as steel so it felt like a cheese grader after driving for more than an hour anywhere....

 

Visit your local Lincoln Mercury dealer and buy a new car.

 

I work at a dealer as well. Love to work on the Mav. Take a nice new car for every day though. As long as it doesnt have a TIPM. Any of you Chrysler guys will get that one.

 

Besides all the other suggestions, what about insulation in and behind the panels and the rear seat for road noise? : )

I need to have m exhaust redone for sure, it's too loud. I guess flowmasters would be good, I think I had FM 40's before though and they were way too loud, I'm sure I can find something quieter. Right now I have dual exhaust that dump before the axle.

Seats I already purchased, 66 mustang buckets. Gotta get them installed now, mayb I'll start on that this saturday.

As for insulation I guess I can go with Dynamat, is that adequate? It's expensive as heck, just checked out the price on it. Some people I saw lay some sort of foam on top of that too.

 

if the dump is under car that is a huge noise add. if you direct them out the side or out from the back of the car that will nock several octaves off. any muffler isnt going to stop the sound coming out the end of the pipe which then fills the whole underside of your car. that is why so many ricer guys like the loud speaker on the end of their pipe, they are trying to increase noise. the sound matt will cut down some but not as much as redirecting the sound out from your car. BTW the mustang buckets for that year arent too bad, but they are low back so keep in mind you dont have whiplash protection, in rush hour heaven

 

I gotta take her into the muffler shop then, that's first on the list. Next, I am gonna change out all the weather stripping because I always hear air rushing in, I'm sure that doesn't help.

 

hey mo, if your in town ive got a really good guy who did the tail pipes on my mav. that should aslo reduse the gas smell in the car.

 

you dont like the sound of american muscle (here we go again) if it smells funny... changing the liner and carpet would help

Every bump in the road, every smell, every noise, every adventure while I'm in one of my Mavericks is a memory and I wouldn't trade them for a ride in the newest, plushest car out there. I rebuild them, I keep at least one of them running most of the time and I can't imagine getting more satisfaction out of a car.

I am guesstimating this will take four rolls X $13/ roll = $52.

Frank "71 Gold" has used it with good results. I am sure that there are other threads detailing his use.

 

Uncomfortable interior?? I'll be damned....the younguns were right....25 years ago . It was all "normal" to me.
