I think the approach I am going to take is to go ahead and head out to the body shop this weekend and rip the interior out and everything sitting in the tunk to better assess the car. My goal when I bought it was to turn it into something decent. My first car was a 70 Maverick back when I was 15 years old. I loved that car even though it gave me hell. So this is not my first go around with a Mav.

I'll take some better photos this weekend and give everyone a better idea of what I'm dealing with.

Well, I put it up for sale. I'm not tackling this project. The hood may not even be usable. Not 100% sure.

keep your chin up, pull out anything that's salvagable, and keep looking. My car wasn't the prettiest girl on the block, but it had very little rust, all in the 1/4s, it was banged up pretty good, and I replaced what I could, shot a coat of primer on it, and am waiting to tackle the body, just need some know how. There are workable cars out there within the realm of reason, just have to be patient
    Good Luck

That car is not as bad as I thought it would be.

But......it would require a complete disassembly and total restoration to ever be a really nice car.

I was thinking the same thing. Could you take some pictures of the inner fenders? on either side of the shock towers, and how are the floors and torque boxes??

You will stand a better chance to recover most of ur investment if you part it out. Mirrors-100.00. rear spoiler and 2 end caps- 100.00. hood somewhere under 150.00.rotted thru on outside. front fenders. column with keys,rear-end if 5 bolt. You get the idea.Take ur time dismantalling every thing so as not to damage anymore than whats there now.Good luck

Depending on the bottom structures, the car doesn't look as bad as I thought either. Will not be an easy restore but the car is complete and a neat color combo.

All I can say is that Im so thankful to my Dad for teaching basic mechanic skills and body work at an early age. I learned more and more as I went along. Picked up welding and fabrication several years ago. I could not afford to pay someone to do a 5-10k paint job ever. Only thing I dont do is interior work (sewing), or machine work. I hope when all is said and done to have around 8 grand in my car.

From what I see, I would go at it full force. Of course, what I don't see is what really matters though, like what the floor pans, frame rails and torque boxes look like.

If it were any regular old Maverick, I'd just say part it. But with that color combo, factory V8 car and all, I think that car would be worth while. Just realize that if you do it, you are doing it because you like the car. Don't ever do it with the expectation that you are going to get ALL the money you invest back out of it. That would be a very sharp car if it were restored.

Wow!! looks like someone took the bumper guards off too as there are holes in the bumper. The under trunk looked decent, the rest is going to take an allover! I like the idea of it being on the floor--what about under the hood? Pics?? Nice to see the shock towers and engine!
Do what you want, but since your asking part it out or reconstruct another Grabber with usable parts from or to this car depending on the soundness of this one--$900, I think you could part it out and get that back for sure. Redo it, and right, its gonna cost ya!
Good luck with whatever you decide man, and just remember, whatever your choice is it will be the right decision!

I'm goint to find some time to post pics of the bottom of it. I'm getting a ton of calls on it from my craigslist add. Not sold yet though.

Parting it out does seem to be the way to go, but with a 15 month old little girl, demanding job, german shepherd, and loving wife, I don't have time to do anything but post a add and take the money. LOL!!!
