    Hi All,

My car came stock with drum/drum manual brakes. I installed an RCM front clip (came with 11" Grenada discs) and then added a Granada (I think) disc/drum manual master cylinder. Now the pedal sits 9 1/2" off the floor! I used the rod that came with the Granada MC, should I have swapped over the rod from the old MC? This pedal seems about double the distance off the floor...

That same master cylinder was used in Mustangs. I bought one from Napa and it came with 2 different length rods, one had a sticker on it saying "Mustang" and it was longer.

They sell an adjustable pushrod through the Mustang houses.

Ahhh, the factory pushrod was 1/4" shorter than the one that came with the Granada M/C. After swapping the rods, my pedal is now 7.5" off the floor. Much better! ;)

Mike; I got an adjustable rod at Summit, and it puts my brake pedal anywhere I want it. I think I paid about $20 for it. See you at the Stampede!

I know this thread has been arnd for few years. Have u made any other changes since starting this thread?
My pedal is abt 7.5-8in also. I want to get it to abt 6", thats where it was B4 I replaced the MC some time ago. I have one of the adj. rods, just have'nt got arnd to installing it. I believe it may have had drum/drum MC prior to putting on the disk/drum MC.
I am basically a left foot brake driver and want to know if anyone runs their non-pwr brake pedal arnd 6-6.5"? I beleive I can run it there w/o coming no where nr the floor.

To change out your brake pedal rods are you removing your master cylinder or can you remove it with the master still installed? I want to shorten mine but I'm not looking forward to removing my master than rebleeding my brakes.

No, I'm perfectly happy with how it sets, but my pedal is hard enough that I could lower it some and still have plenty of room "to the floor" if desired.

Mine was all done on the bench during assembly, but I'm sure you could replace the pushrod without removing anything. The rod is held in with an internal e-clip, a good stiff YANK should pull it out of the master cylinder, then it would just be a matter of removing it from the pedal and shortening or replacing it. I'd mock it up w/o the e-clip and once you get it "right" make sure to install that clip or the rod could fall out and...no brakes!

    Thanks for the reply Russ.
1.) I have bn wondering if the MC e-clip cud be removed w/o removin the MC or easier just to remove it? Easier on the back!
2.) Also, wondering if u bend the clip can it be replaced w/o buyin another MC?
3.) Another thought of the adj. pushrod, it not being the exact same "ball end" as what I have and it possibly falling out scares me. It is designed for Ford MC - I guess the only way I will know is remove and examine it.
