I find it offensive, what a pointless statement. If someone has the money and cannot do the work correctly why not let a professional do it.

Well the fact is that the car (any car as long as the owner is happy with it) done or not is special to that person. In regards to the Performance World car show we had the best of both worlds - Ron's which is fully restored and in my opinion beautiful in every way and my Comet which is by no means a "show car" but is" MOSTLY ORIGINAL". I myself like a car that is driven and has some wear and tear or a sorta badge of honor and not so much a full out show car that does not even get started only looked at. Now with that in mind the cars that are insanely restored and are only made for shows to be seen and not used or started i really don't have to much use for them ..... but when i see one at the show i'm still in awe at how stunningly beautiful it is. Really a best of both worlds sorta thing.

I don't believe darren was saying that a professional should not build a car. I think those that build them with their own blood ,sweat and tears, are more proud of the end result, even if the same money was spent on parts. Most people say- "that was done by me".When i walk thru a parking lot with a bunch of classic cars there, I'm most impressed with workmanship done in a backyard garage than a shop that has all the best or most of the best equipment. Ingenuity to form, make or fabricate with almost nothing in the way of special tools. JMO:)

I coulden't have said it better myself Ron.I my car happens to break down chances are i can fix it right there or know exactly what i can use to get it going.Just because you paid alot of cash to have it built doesn't mean it will be trouble free.

I really don't think a blanket statement like that can be applied. More proud???? Some people work hard on their cars. Some people work hard to make the money in order to pay somebody to work on their car. I think they both can be equally proud.
