That is good advice. When you are hooking up that freshly charged battery are you getting a big spark? I would think you would be. You will need to do like the other 2 told you though and get an amp meter or test light between the battery and the circuit to find the short. Sounds like a large draw so shouldn't be too hard to find clint
**UPDATE** Okay so I finally bought a new battery for it and it started right up.The only problem is that the battery reads 12.3 while the car is running.I tried the test light thing and the light was on and even when I pulled the fuses it stayed on.One thing I'm concerned about is (I have the steering wheel off by the way) these two little button things in the steering column near the blinker assembly that sparked when I tried putting the old steering wheel back on.It also read 12.3 volts on one of them.If you don't know what I'm talking about then I can try and get some pictures tonight.
try unpluging the alternator. if the light goes out then the diods in it are bad. thats about all that is left, unless the power wire going to the fuse block is grouding out some where.
