My issue is they seem to go to slow or at times do not come on when I put 'em on. What say everyone here--I have some ideas, but would like some feedback. (Alt seems alright as the headlights don't dim or anything).

Are you running a heavy duty turn signal flasher?

Unless you have multiple turn signal lights or are towing a trailer that has additional lights, a heavy duty flasher can will really slow things down.

Yes, that's the 1st thing I would do...change the flasher. And make surre you change the right one. You also have one on the emergency flasher. You can check by turning on either the turn signal or the emergency flasher and feel which one is clicking.

And if that doesn't do it, you have too much resistance somewhere. Bad bulb, corroded socket terminals, etc. The load (bulbs) isn't drawing enough current to properly heat up and activate the thermal flasher.

I had the same problem after putting on my elec rad fan, ended up being a bad ground. Even before the fan my lights were dim an flashers slow. I found my bad ground next to the volt reg.

Swap the flasher for an electronic flasher. They plug right in and are cheap. The number of bulbs doesn't effect the speed of these and they last for years.

If the turn signals are slow and don't flash, you've more likely got a light duty flasher. A light duty flasher will not flash when one bulb is burnt. An heavy duty flasher will flash regardless of burnt bulbs. I always run a heavy duty flasher regadless of application.
