Offer $500 (worth that in parts alone) if he says no wait till you have another choice then compare the two if it is still around, that should make it easier to decide when you have two or more choices where you can compare them.
Just from your pic, looks like a lot of rust. Sorry, I'd have to say "no way" to $1000, maybe half that amount. Better look up under if that back floor is out! I bet there is more rust hiding. I'd say keep looking, but you know better than any of us as to what you can and are willling to spend. Good luck and keep us posted!
1500 for a car that the floor is rotten, and the transmission is whipped?? You should come and see me, I've got lot's of 1500 dollar cars
the body looks to be in good shape but check the key points everyone is talking about cowl, torqe boxes ect. if its a v8 car offer him 600 and see what that gets you there has got to be that much in good parts there from what i have seen in the pics
That car looks in better shape than a lot i've seen here in austin tx, take an ice-pick and poke around the floor from the inside, you can tell when it's bad. If you are from an area that doesn't use salt half the year for the snow, everything else should be alright, take a peep under her skirt to check if she's good ;-) .. $1000 would be a great deal here in austin if it is drivable.
