That 80s Nova was originally so unremarkable that I had totally forgotten about them until seeing that picture ...
The sad thing is that it's a recent picture i found on craigslist, what made that man paint it those colors
Seems the Maverick could have been a good competition with GM's Camaro if they would have equipped it with a 351 engine, a C6 automatic or 4speed manual, and the 9" disk equipped rearend with front disks and suspension similar to the Lincoln's. Early Mavericks look so similar to the Camaro. Why would they add a 390 bigblock and C6 transmission to the tiny 60s thunderbird and downgrated everything on most Mustangs and all Mavericks? 1970 Camaro 1970 Maverick Comet GT You see how tiny those early Thunderbirds were?
I'm really not sure, it was advertised as someones 70 camaro. personally not a fan of camaros, it looks to friendly from the front. If someone in a early 70s Camaro was tailgating you all you could see from your rear view mirror is its Large Smiling Grill.
Your right those Thunderbirds were kinda tiny , funny i remember them being a little bigger but i was a kid back then so the car naturally would look bigger to me.
I agree, I have only seen 4 mavericks around my town and they're each 4 doors, mine isn't awesome lookin now but it still gets looks, I think I have the only 2 door in town
this thread's still goin? wow. and i still think they'dve reduced the mav to nothing more than a 4-door mustang. that's why im glad (in a way) that the name died out.
Speaking of turning heads, I do notice that I get a lot of "OMG AWESOME CAR!" when I do take my Mav. And it's not even close to being something of a show car. Guess some people just love seeing these older cars out and about.
