Neutral safety switch???

    302,floor shift automatic. Has anyone replaced one and where do you get the right one? Is there any tricks or surprises I should expect?

    i use a b&m megashifter. pretty straightforward. just have to figure out which wires are the neutral safety switch and which are the backup lights. i turned the key on and put it into reverse and checked with a meter to see which had voltage on it.:)

    I have the stock shifter. My backup lights do not work and I believe it is due to the neutral safety switch.

    Does the car start in any gear?

    If so, check the wire harness running into your transmission on the left side (it plugs into the switch on the tranny lever, )
    Make sure it's actually plugged in, and isn't grounding out.

    The car only starts in park and neutral.
