Ok so I had never rebuilt a carburetor before, but I had a friend who had experience rebuilding 2 and 4 barrels, so we decided to do my 1 barrel RBS together. Well, once we had the thing completely taken apart and cleaned, ready to go back together, he mentions that it's been about 20 years since he put one back together and he's not so sure what to do, and HE LEAVES. So I spent about 8+ hours trying to follow the cryptic one page diagram to get the dang thing back together. I think it's ok. I at least had no leftover pieces when I was done, and everything seemed to fit together alright. Anyway, so I got it back on the car, and I can't seem to get everything hooked up right. The car will run, but the kickdown plate is not properly engaged, so when it's cold it can't stay running without my foot on the gas, and there may be a few other things like that that need adjusting.

Point of my post: if anyone out there has a heart, please go take several pictures of your RBS and post them here. I need to see everything going out of and going into it, so I can figure out what isn't hooked up right. My "friend" said afterward that maybe we should have started by taking pictures. There's another lesson learned that I won't have to learn again.

    Thanks in advance!

Ahh. Had to look it up either way. Learn something everyday... Usually I called that the demaflitchy number #3 :rofl2:

Anyhow, the kickdown what-ya-ma-call-it is controlled by the choke. You can play with teh choke plate, and the throttle and see for yourself how it all works together.

Here are some pics. I postitioned the 'fast idle cam' how it would be if my choke were adjusted properly (IE - closed most of the way). However, since it is June in Alabama I see no reason for it to be closed

    EDIT -
Looking again, the cam could even come down a bit farther...

Is that the Carter RBS or the YF? I don't know if it matters, but it doesn't look quite like mine. The RBS has the big round fuel bowl off to one side.

Fair enough - thanks for posting the pics, by the way.
