Hey i just remembered i have a set of slots i am thinking of selling 15 x 10 with 31 x 18.5 mickey thompson tires for $180.00
Jamie, I just saw that pic and was thinking the same thing. My first impression was "that looks different, but I like it." and it took me a few seconds to see what was different. Changes the whole flow of the rear body lines. 460, I hope to install my motor this weekend if all the loose ends come together as planned. I may try to drive my car down there in the next week or so, if it ever stops raining, and take a look at what you have going on there...
What do you think about the front tires? I'm thinking they are a little short. I was thinking about getting some different front tires and getting some a little taller. By the way, I did get my steering linkage hooked up. I'm using a 92 Mustang column with the original shaft with one Flaming River joint. Shaft goes around the headers nicely. Later
Finally got some paint on old Maverick. I'll post some more when I get it together. (Click on pic below)
460 maverick Great car. I like it better than mine. I also have a 460 Maverick. I noticed that there is no steering shaft in the pictures. Where did you run one and how did it clear the headers? Can you post some pictures? As you can see my steering shaft barely clears the stock manifolds. Which headers did you use? I see they are Hookers. For which year Camaro and what part number are the headers? I would possibly like to duplicate your set up. I was thinking of switching to a motor plate also. I posted some pictures of my engine bay. I have stock manifolds on it now. I was thinking of using some Sanderson block hugger headers until I saw your pictures. .
I’ll try to take some more pics in the next week or so. So of the pics are old. I have the steering hooked up to a 87-93 Mustang steering column and I used the steering shaft with a flaming river joint on one end. I’m going to have to adjust it some, one of the joints is rubbing some when I steer. The headers are Hooker 2457, you can search like in Summitracing.com. I had to cut the flanges and weld on BBF flanges, the number five cylinder tube had to be cut and bent and lengthen just a little to make some clearance for the tube. You need to have a motor plate to run these headers. Have you driven yours around yet? I know these Mavericks got to be fast with a 460 in them. I can't wait to get mine to the track
Driving I just got this car about 3 months ago. When I drove it it had a stock 8 inch, non trac loc, with tired stock 3 leaf springs. It smoked the tires more than any other car I have driven. The first time I did it, I pulled over because I literally thought the car was burning. There was so much smoke in the inside the car. I guess because I had the window open. I am in the process of putting Cal Trac springs and Cal Trac traction bars in. I also intalled a 9 inch with 3:50 trac loc. I also made some sub frame connectors and tied them into the rockers. (see pic) But I'm not done yet, so I haven't driven the car with the new set up yet.
I will have to take some new ones or find some old ones I will start a new thread when I do give me a couple days.
